How long have you been in business?
One and one-half years.
What is the primary focus of your business?
We are a flatbed operator hauling steel coils for the auto industry.
Do you have regularly scheduled routes?
We do both scheduled routes and on-demand pickup and delivery.
How are major repairs and maintenance handled?
We lease our trucks through Ryder, so they handle all the repairs through the maintenance agreement. We pay so many cents per mile and they handle all maintenance, repairs and towing.
What three challenges do you face with your maintenance program? How do you resolve each of these maintenance, repairs and towing?
That’s the great thing about having the maintenance agreement through Ryder. For a small operation like ours, it takes all the challenges out of the equation. They even provide a replacement truck if they can’t get the truck needing repair back on the road in a timely manner.
Do you stock any parts for your trucks or purchase as needed? If you stock parts, which ones?
No. We purchase as needed or just stop in at a Ryder shop to have the in-stock part installed.
How do you handle maintenance intervals on your trucks and/or trailers to minimize downtime?
All this is handled through the maintenance program.We just provide the mileage on each truck, and Ryder tells us when to have it available for maintenance. We have no downtime because they provide a loaner truck to complete a run if necessary.
How do you determine when it’s time to replace a truck or trailer?
This is all determined by the lease and maintenance agreement with Ryder. They handle all those details.
What are your specifications for your trucks? Are you able to find these on the used market?
We have set specifications that are put in place by Ryder for their lease program.
What programs do you have in place to ensure CSA (Compliance, Safety, Accountability) compliance for your trucks and or trailers?
We use the Ryder RydeSmart System to keep our equipment in compliance. One stop and it’s all taken care of. (RydeSmart is a full-featured GPS fleet location, tracking, and vehicle performance management system offered to Ryder’s full-service lease customers.)
