Tech in Trucking: Reader follows inventory in transit

ThingMagic has released its Vega RFID reader and development kit, which is designed for in-transit visibility.

The unit has a serial interface that connects the Vega IVR reader to an in-dash PC, onboard laptop, GPRS smart phone or telematics platform for RFID tag information processing, the company said. It can track assets, products or personnel.

According to the company, the product was originally designed  for use by Ford Motor with its ToolLink offering. However, it is now being made available for commercial fleets to monitor  inventory and cargo in real time beyond the warehouse.
