Parts & Service: Battery offers additional power
Carrier Transicold’s new PowerRush Platinum AGM battery is being backed by a 4-yr. full replacement warranty. According to the company, the absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery can power refrigeration units as well as many other Group 31 applications.
The PowerRush provides 1,150 cold cranking amps of starting power with deep cycling ability and cold-starting performance, Carrier said. The pure lead battery retains 75% more power than typical Group 31 wet cell batteries at -40F (-20C).
A fast charge acceptance by the battery reduces engine runtime for recharging, potentially reducing fuel consumption when Carrier refrigeration units are used in start-stop mode, the company said.
“High performance AGM batteries have gained popularity in the trucking industry, supporting the increased electrical requirements for vehicle electronics and cab accessories,” said Jason Forman, senior product development manager, Carrier Transicold Performance Parts Group.
